Freedom is one of the most powerful promises of our time. Time and again, it is invoked as the goal of conflicts and wars. Yet when fire is meant to pave the way to freedom, what often remains is merely a landscape of loss, memory, and unfulfilled hope. * Between Fire and Freedom* questions the narrative that violence can bring about liberation. The work focuses on the people who must live amidst political agendas and historic upheavals. It speaks of the fragility of hope, the longing for a self-determined life, and the contradiction between the promises of power and the reality faced by those who bear its consequences. Drawing on the experiences of many people in Iran, the work simultaneously points to a universal situation. It views freedom not as the outcome of destruction, but as a fragile state that can only emerge where human dignity, security, and compassion are preserved.
